Faculty Research Centre Planning

Workshop

Presented by: Multiple possible Senior Associate presenters

4 workshops and 1:1 mentoring

Outside Opinion can craft and prepare and provide a development program for research centres within a Faculty, Division or University. Such programs are aimed at developing the capacity of centre leadership to secure large grants (1M+) and to manage larger scale research programs. The programs involve a combination of cohort work and 1:1 support.

Activities may include:

  • Cohort work establishing an understanding of the research environment  and opportunities for external investment

  • Development by each Centre of a three year plan to scale research programs with external investment.

  • Presentation to peers and Faculty leadership of a Centre plan.

  • Implementation planning.

The number of participants may vary, but could include up to 30 participants in the research leadership development program. Preparatory work: Outside Opinion will review Centre performance data and plans. The Outside Opinion facilitator will meet with participants and discuss the rationale for the initiative, the process and the work ahead, the current research environment, funding patterns and the profile of each Centre, based on the data.
