Research Project Development
Workshop
Multiple possible Senior Associate presenters
Length: Full day
A whole day workshop designed to build research teams and foster collaboration across projects, with a focus on partnered research and on networking and interdisciplinary exchange.
Workshop 1. We will build practical skills in research design and project development in participants’ disciplines. We begin by understanding opportunities and challenges in framing projects for ARC (Linkage, Discovery), for contract or consultancy work and for philanthropic trusts, foundations and NGOs. How do people build up from small initiatives to larger projects? How do you frame a compelling research question for different funders and audiences?
Workshop 2.. Working in teams, participants will develop new ideas for imaginative projects and plot them out into a workable project plan, pitching the idea.
Participants will be encouraged to contribute generously to others' ideas and to reflect on how their own project conception has altered.
Participants should come prepared to discuss:
1. The challenges of identifying research questions and designing funded research projects.
2. A new project they would like to develop (or one they would like to extend or reinvent).
