Prof Rachel A. Ankeny
SENIOR ASSOCIATE
Rachel A. Ankeny is currently Professor of History and Philosophy in the School of Humanities at the University of Adelaide and Honorary Professor, Department of Sociology, Philosophy, and Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, University of Exeter. Her research interests cross several fields, including history and philosophy of the biological and biomedical sciences, food studies and policy, bioethics, public understanding of science, science policy, and migration history. Her methods include theoretical, conceptual, and empirical (qualitative) approaches. She has received major research grants from the Australian Research Council, the National Health and Medical Research Council, Meat and Livestock Australia, and the European Research Council, and has work experience in Australia, the United States, and Europe.
Rachel is particularly passionate about postgraduate and undergraduate research training, and she won the 2019 Faculty of Arts Prize for Excellence in Teaching (HDR Supervision) and a 2018 University Commendation for the Enhancement and Innovation of Student Learning (Effective HDR Supervisory Practices), both at the University of Adelaide.
Rachel’s professional interests include research planning and training, academic strategy and planning, institutional policy development, academic writing and publishing strategies, grant crafting, workshop facilitation, and individual and group coaching and mentoring.
