Prof Lorraine Ling

Lorraine Ling is an Emeritus Professor at La Trobe University. Before moving into the higher education sector Lorraine taught in primary, secondary and technical schools in metropolitan and rural areas of Victoria. She has a PhD which focuses on education policy construction. Lorraine has over 35 years of experience in higher education across many roles including: Executive Dean of Education at La Trobe University; Executive Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences - La Trobe University; Director of Educational Engagement - La Trobe University, Dean of Education - Victoria University, Pro-Vice Chancellor Associate - Academic Transformation at Victoria University, Pro-Vice Chancellor Associate – “Future Ready” at Victoria University.
Lorraine has served as Chair of the Professional Development of Teachers’ Research and Development Group – Association of Teacher Educators in Europe; and La Trobe University Academic Director of the World Bank IBRD /Indonesian Department of Education Project in Teacher education. She has also served in the Australian Deans of Education and Victorian Deans of Education Associations. She is the recipient of the Australian Council of Educational Leaders Fellowship Award and the Australian Council of Deans of Education award for Outstanding Contribution to Education and to the ACDE.
Lorraine’s expertise, research and publication focuses on: teacher education and professional development; educational leadership and administration; strategic and academic planning and change in higher education; higher education policy; curriculum design and development; paradigms and methods of research in education; sociology, philosophy and history of education; values in education; and the changing nature of academic work. She is an experienced researcher and research reviewer, research supervisor, advisor and administrator and has served on numerous research committees and panels and has led university academic transformation and change projects.
