Prof Keith Jacobs

Keith Jacobs is an Professor emeritus of Sociology at the University of Tasmania. During his time at the University, he was an ARC Future Fellow (2014-20018), Director of the Housing and Community Research Unit and the Associate Dean of Research for the Faculty of Arts (2008-2012). His research is focused on housing policy, migration, and social theory. Keith has an honours degree in Philosophy, an MSc in Urban Planning Studies and completed his PhD in sociology at Birkbeck College, University London. He is the author of over 80 journal articles and publications, including Neoliberal Housing Policy: An international Perspective; The Dynamics of Local Housing Policy and Experience and Migration: Contemporary Perspectives on Migration in Australia. Keith is on the international advisory boards of Housing Studies, Housing Theory and Society and The International Journal of Housing Policy. He is currently a commissioning editor for a monograph series titled 'Explorations in Housing Studies' published by Routledge and coediting a handbook on Housing and the Home, that will be published by Edward Elgar in 2023. Keith has considerable experience writing grant applications , mentoring early and mid- career academics, and establishing and working with interdisciplinary research teams.
