Dr Gen Ford
SENIOR ASSOCIATE
Dr Gen Ford is a research management professional based in Melbourne. Since 2011 she has specialised in all aspects of higher education research funding including coordinating major bids to the ARC, NHMRC, CRC Program, state and federal governments and philanthropic funders. Gen provides high level strategic and editing advice on all ARC schemes, has particular expertise in research impact and draws on her professional development qualifications and skills to support early and mid career researchers with developing their research ambitions. As a member of her former Faculty’s senior management team Gen gained a broad understanding of the higher education landscape more generally, experience in handling research ethics and integrity matters, research costing and pricing, RHD candidature management, budgeting and forecasting, strategic research reporting, research contract negotiation and designing and implementing research strategy.
She completed her PhD in International Relations at Deakin University in 2007, where she also taught a number of undergraduate subjects in politics, international relations and security studies. Post PhD she moved into social policy consulting where she completed projects for a range of government and non-government clients on topics such as family violence, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, suicide prevention, sexual assault justice reform, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service provision, child protection, professional development for teachers and youth and municipal planning for local government authorities.
