This presentation reviews the ranking scene and how ranking connects with institutional research tactics. It uses the Shanghai ranking to get into the engine room of the ranking organisations to trace how institutions can incentivise researchers if they are attempting to move their rankings upward. This workshop is suited for research leaders, Centre and Institute leaders, ADRs, department heads, and Deans or PVCs.

PROF Lawrence Cram
Lawrence Cram is Emeritus Professor at ANU and a visiting scholar at CDU and Sydney University. He has extensive experience in tertiary education and public sector research, including practice, funding, administration, and leadership. He has engaged with government and business to promote successful research commercialization at CSIRO, the University of Sydney, the Australian National University and Charles Darwin University.
