Renae Carolin is a research development specialist with significant experience providing tailored, strategic advice and support to academics, higher education institutions and healthcare organisations on research strategy, research funding proposals, business development, innovation, industry engagement and research translation and impact.
Her extensive track record includes supporting successful delivery of prestigious and collaborative research initiatives of key funding bodies funding secured in excess of $400M across ARC Centres of Excellence, Special Research Initiatives, Laureate Fellowships, ITRP Research and Training Hubs and LIEF; NHMRC Centres of Research Excellence and Ideas, Synergy and Partnership Project Grants; MRFF Targeted Calls for Research; CRCs and CRC-Ps; the National Environment Science Program (NESP) and ARENA. She has also supported academics in international and philanthropic research proposals such as NIH and Wellcome Trust.
Renae supports all stages of research initiatives including research program development, contract negotiation, mid-term reviews, program acquittal and post-funding transformation. Renae also has specialist expertise in capacity building in early, mid and senior career researchers, helping them align their academic proposals with relevant funding opportunities, including developing and delivering the highly successful Laureate Fellowship Peer Support Program for the University of Melbourne.
More recently, Renae has worked in translational research roles in the health and medical sector including cancer research and mental health, supporting medical research and healthcare organisations with research strategy development, program delivery, capacity building and co-design to enhance research impact and consumer outcomes.
